Gang films thug ‘fly kicking’ pensioner, 74, into dirty river in sickening attack

A gang of thugs filmed the shameful moment their pal fly-kicked an elderly man into a river.

The moment the 74-year-old man was kicked into the River Mersey was captured in disturbing footage of the sickening act.

The clip shows the pensioner standing on the bank of the Mersey when he is kicked with force from behind by a man dressed in a black gilet.

The elderly man can be seen falling face first into the water as the thug flees from the scene near Riverside Retail Park during the incident on Sunday.

Two mystery women who were passing by came to the man’s aid and pulled him out of the water, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Cheshire Police are appealing to both witnesses to come forward and enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.

The elderly man sustained a cut to his face during the incident, after banging his head when he was knocked into the water.

He walked home “freezing cold” to tell his family, who then reported it police.

Sergeant Mark Spaven, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “This was a shocking and upsetting incident which has understandably left the gentleman shaken.

“He returned home freezing cold and had sustained a cut to his face due to banging his head as he fell into the water.

“We are determined to find those responsible and I am urging anyone who has any information or believes they know who did this to come forward.

“I also want to appeal to the two women who thankfully came to his rescue to please get in touch with us as you could have information which could help our investigation.”
